need clarity on architecture

Hi All,

1 . My plot size is 30 feet * 56 feet.

2. In the gorund floor, I build the house using 12 pillars (each pillar contains four 16 mm rods and two 12 mm rods).

3. Each row contains three pillars and like that pillars built in four rows.

4. Each row is separated by 15 feets.

5. In the last 30 X 11 feets, we dont have any pillars/columns and its roof is simply hanging.

6. Can I build the first floor on top of the ground floor? is it safe to build first floor? or do I need to add any extra pillars/columns to ground floor?

Thanks,

Dilemma in choosing the right masters course.

I have graduated from SIR MVIT college in bangalore in Civil engineering and I'm aspiring to do my masters. My main problem is that ican't decide whether to take up structures or environmental as my specialization.
Structures has always been the choice during my college days because that was the most popular. But now after studying all the various subjects i have found both to be interesting. Need to know more details and job prospects of environmental also. pls shed some light on this matter and help me choose the right course. thanks

How does dazzling rain affects freshly poured concrete ...?

complete scenario -

Every thing was ready for the roof concrete (gang , centering, bar bending..etc - Indian style roofing )
Sunday it was sunny day ..so we decided to roof on Monday(place bangalore) ... everything was arranged for roofing .
Monday it was cloudy , as per weather predictions it would light drizzles , so we moved on.
we started at morning 9.00 am at 25% of completion it started rain drizzles..
then the rain drizzles continued , we finished the roof concrete work@2pm
Rain started heavily @4..and it continued
Still its drizzling Due to chennai Cyclone(affected karnataka)

Concrete grade - M20
cement used - Zuari Primo
equal ratio of sand and M-sand

Does it affect the concrete , any stability issues arises in future..

Help with HNC Civil Engineering Coursework

Hi currently a first year student working towards a HNC in Civil Egnineering.

Doing a lab report on tensile testing of a steel test piece (S275) have pretty much finished the report apart from one question that the answer to has gone straight over my head during class and was hoping someone could possible help me out or point me in the generally direction of an answer.

The question is :

Explain the significance of the bar's diameter chosen towards application in design?

If anyone could help would be amazing if not thank you anyway.
