what is REMEDY for plastic shrinkage cracks?
Hi All,
Very recently we did RCC slab for my home using READY MIX concrete (M-30 Grade)
Unfortunately we observed plastic shrinkage cracks immediately after completion of the slab casting (not the complete slab, only first half of the slab).
The Quality In charge of READY MIX concrete supplier told that "the cracks are because of too temperature"
From the last couple of days. the cracks leading to water leaks at five/six places.
1. Could you please tell me what is the REMEDY for stopping plastic shrinkage cracks?
2. Could you please tell me how plastic shrinkage cracks impacts the DURABILILITY and STRENGTH of RCC slab?
3. What is best remedy for stopping water leaks ?
4. Is there a possibility for hitting new cracks in the future?
Design of RCC Beam
Dear Sir/Madam,
I hope you are fine and healthy,
Question: if a reinforced beam is supported on columns to both side and laying on brick wall (the beam is fully supported with columns and brick wall),
Please tell me about the design method, how much support will the wall give to the beam?
Simple beam calculation
Uniform load of a total of 50 lbs even distribution on a 12 foot span with fixed supports.
Square steel tube
1.5 inches square
14 gauge steel (wall thickness of .078")
E = 30000000 psi
I = 0.1502
W = 50lb
L = 12 ft
My deflection calculation differs from "Beam Boy" software and I can't find the error. I get
0.0863 inches of deflection.
I used this formula:
WL^3/384EI
Pile Foundation in sandy soil
We are installing 450 mm dia cast-in-situ bored pile in sandy soil. Our consultancy is forcing us to use epoxy coated steel (12 mm and 8 mm) for the piles because of the uplift pressure on piles (according to them). Please help me in proving the point that uplift pressure couldn't be dealt with epoxy coated steel. (I need strong and reasonable points). I am continuously searching in google but till now I have failed.
Shift Slave Nodes Dofs To Master Node
Hi.
I'm reading a thesis about structure control and it says it shifts save nodes DOFs to master node but I do not know how.
I think it wants to make several bays equivalent to one bay.
Does anyone have any idea how it does that.
Thank you

Pipeline Modeling
Hello all,
I hope everyone will be fine. Guys I am modeling a pipeline in opensees based on BEam On Non-Linear Winkler Foundation(BNWF).I have a question that
HOW transverse wave propagation speed help me decide the minimum element length??? And what would be the criteria to select the appropriate mesh size???
Please guide me with this. I need your help guys.Looking for your response.
Thanks in advance.
Plinth area clarification
In my newly constructed house the staircase falls within the plinth area. I am paying on per square foot of plinth area basis. Now the contractor wants staircase charges extra. My contention is since the stair case is within plinth area the same does not attract extra rate. Pl clarify if the contractor is right in asking for extra for staircase?
triangular steel rod
sir,
I need to know the length of anchor rod or triangular steel rod which is to be weld on the base plate and which will get inside the concrete columns. we are making an industrial shed 30ft*40ft on 4in steel pipes. please suggest me sir.the fabricator is telling that the clamp/anchor rod should be 2ft i.e four pieces of steel angle/clamp/anchor rod each 2ft length.please suggest me economically and not be compromising with the strength of the shed. please suggest.
