Another request for help.
I would like to build a robot from ground up. What programming language should I use?
Would assembly language be the best language to use?
If so, could anyone suggest the best assembler and loader to use with the assembly language that they proposed?
Thank you. Your suggestion would be of great help to me and hopefully, to somebody else in the future.
Help Required For Tachometer Circuit...
Hi,
I am trying to build a tachometer using IR Sensors..
I get good response at lower frequencies but as the frequency increases say to 170Hz it looses the wave..
i am using a hysteresis resistor of 1M at positive feedback and input is at inverting terminal of op-amp should i use hysteresis resistor i think the problem is with this as the frequency increases..
and if i remove the resistor response is so fast and ir sensor is imune to even little jerks..
Plz Someone give expert opinion.
Thanks In Advance
Cordless drill motor
Hi there,
I want to use 4 cordless drill motors to power a mobile robot, but I need some assistance determining the thread size of the motor axis. The motor is from a B&D cordless drill and when the chuck is removed, a thread is revealed. This is almost a standard thread on all cordless drills, but I can't figure out the size/type of it in order to buy a corresponding nut.
Approximate dimensions are
- Outer diameter: 12.5 mm (0.492 in)
- Pitch: 1.3 mm (0.051 in)
I guess the dimensions correspond to an American standard. Anyone with special knowledge on cordless drills?
HT9200
HI.
I was trying to interface the DTMF generator (HT9200) to tel line.
I was able to hear the tones, but it's not dialing them!?!?!?!
Any idea? Any circuit ??
:(
I'm using an isolation transformer !!
Basics behind IR pair circuit for a line follower robot
iam interested to know about the theory behind the working of IR pair circuit used in line follower robot. i just always copy the circuit diagram from somewhere and interface it with micro-controller. but i want to know the working of circuit.
anyone give me any references??
how to use hard disk spindle motors
hi every one
i m need to use hard disk spindle motor for my proj bcos it gives constant high rpm like 5400 or 7200rpm. i have some dumb harddisk. pls tell me how to run them. is it possible to use normal power transisotr to drive those motors. samsung harddisk motor comes with 4 wires and seagate harddisk motor comes with 3 wires. if i give a voltage to any of those pin the motor just jerks and stops.
Wifi tracking stage light
Hi All:
I am considering a project which purports to use RFID wifi transmission data to track a person on a stage for a smart stage light (DMX) to auto track.
I am not clear on how to access the position data from the wifi transmisssion. Also, I need to figure out the DMX protocol to instruct the light to move. thsi is a start point.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DMX512
My plan is to access this data, compute from cartesian to polar coords and then convert to the DMX protocol to instruct the Fixture to aim at the targeted person.
Any thoughts?
Questions in Control Theory (pole placement, stability, Kalman's Criterion)
Hi everyone !
Currently, I am studying Control Theory and I believe it is a fascinating field ! I still have a lot to learn !
Anyway, I have a question to ask because I am not very sure.
I have just learned about Pole Placement. I know the key is to find a gain K in order to meet my specifications and change system's behavior by what I desire. In order to do that, it is necessary to check a criterion: Kalman's Criterion (to know if my system is controllable and if I can place my pole as I want).
My first question: Imagine a system that is initially no stable (with positive eigenvalues for example) .
Can I assume it does not check Kalman's Criterion ?
Can I do a Pole Placement to make it stable ?
Are there other methods to make a system stable ?
My second question: I am working with linear system. However, I think in life, real systems are not necessarily linear.
Can I do a pole placement in a nonlinear system ?
Thank you for your help !
Have a nice day !
Holding pressure/variable torque
Hello! It's been ages since I posted here. Glad to still see some familiar faces active!
Anyway, I am looking for something and thought maybe the automation/robotics crowd here might have some ideas.
Basically what I am looking to do is power an axis on an old machine tool that has been modified to do some light production work. Currently a hand wheel moves a bed along an x axis. It its not a screw type movement like on a milling machine, but rather the bed floats on ball bearings and has very little mechanical advantage in the gearing. The hand wheel brings the bed and workpiece against a grinding stone. Currently hand pressure holds the pressure against the stone during grinding.
I want to automate this. I need some way of replacing the hand wheel with a motor of some sort that would give me the ability to hold this pressure, and vary it.
The cycle time for each piece is about 2 minutes. I don't think many (any?) electric motors would enjoy being stalled out for this long repeatedly.
I was pondering some type of hydraulic motor and relief valve, but I don't have experience with anything like that to know if its a practical solution.
A pneumatic approach would also be possible. But since I need fairly precise control, it would have to be something more than an air cylinder.
If anyone has done something like this, or seen it done commercially, I would love to hear about it.
20 Steppers
Hello,
I'm writing software which will have 20 or so variables that will update stepper motor positions simultaneously (or there abouts). I don't want to create my own electronics as it's not my area of expertise, what would be the best off the shelf solution for my application?
