36V battery to AC

I want to convert a 36v battery to AC but I am having trouble finding a 36V inverter, I have thought about using a DC to DC converter to drop it to 12V since there are plenty of 12V inverters, however I am wondering if I will get much loss of power, will it generate a lot of heat or what are any other problems that could arise?

natural gas and light fixtures

I live in PA and I have a tight area. The light fixtures are the old style ceramic and are within an inch of the black steel gas piping. Is this an issue with the NEC? Is it an issue with the NFPA? What do the codes say about this situation?

Running romex between ceiling joists with a heating duct?

Hi, I want to add an electrical outlet/plug on my ceiling to accommodate a home theatre projector. I need to run wiring between the ceiling joists from my mechanical room which has a perfect run to where I need to put the plug. The possible problem is that in the run is also a heating duct. Is there a problem running romex between joists in which there is also a heating duct running down it as well?

dim light

I changed a ceiling fixture in my bathroom and the light is very dim. its a 75 w bulb and its fine in other outlets but not bathroom ceiling. I'm reading 117 volts on my volt meter. its an old house (1954) with mostly cloth wiring. there is a constant hot there but its not hooked up to the switch. The light is fine when hooked to that wire. There is a newer black wire there that is hooked up to the switch and thats the one I have the issue with. If the voltage is there, why dismay light dim?

GFCI Outlets not working after circuit break

I recently turned off a circuit in order to install a light fixture. When I flipped it back on, everything came back except for two GFCI outlets on my kitchen counter wall. I tried pushing the buttons on them, but neither respond. I tried going back, turning the circuit off, then back on - nothing. Any suggestions?

New GFCI not resetting

I replaced a GFCI with a new one after the old would not reset. The new one has a green LED which shows that power is there, but it will again not allow me to reset so it is not working and connects all 3 of my bathroom vanities. What else could be the problem?

Separate ground wire legal?

My home was built in 1964. It appears that all of the outlets (except some that were for an addition) are 2 wire with no ground. There are GFCI's in both bathrooms, however they are not marked as not grounded (required to be marked I believe), and were probably added to pass inspection at one time. I want to run a seperate wire from each ungrounded outlet to the main breaker box (service panel?). Would this be legal? From what I understand it is, but I am not 100% certain. It must hold up to NEC code obviously for when I sell the home in 10 years or so.
