Mapping registers in Paradigm Babel Box

My company has an Alfa laval sattcon200 PLC with a comli communication protocol which is connected to an ABBs infi90 DCS through a Paradigm Babel Box protocol converter The Alfa laval sattcon200 PLC with a comli communication protocol which is connected to an ABBs DCS through a Paradigm Babel Box protocol converter. The protocol converter lost its configuration. I have manage to get the port settings on both sides but am having difficulty in Mapping the register in the communication block of the protocol converter please help if you have any idea.

Remotely programming PLCs.

I'm facing a project where there will be 3 PLCs on a moving platform that moves about the USA. Invariably there will need to be changes to their code. I want to be able to do that remotely. I'm looking for solutions in any form. That is it could be something you buy that will mimic a local programming computer or a fully enabled PLC that has the native functionality. This is going to be a wireless situation, of course.

I'd prefer to use Automation Direct's CLICK series as they have the biggest bang for the buck and I'm very familiar with them but they provide no alternative programming methods as needed, you just plug a programming computer into them via RS232. (Except since I last used one they've added an Ethernet port that you can program thru which might make this a little easier.)

I'm open to any suggestions or brain storming, what have you got?!

Data communication using GSM network

My object is data transfer between three pump stations and central SCADA station using GSM network. I came across SINAUT MICRO SC - software together with GSM Modem MD-720-3 which i feel is very close to my expectations.

What i am not sure is, whether static IP will be required for the computer with SINAUT MICRO SC - software , which will be the central station with SCADA system.

I also understood from the examples, it is possible for any internet connected computer to view the status at remote station (pumps or other equipment) through central station computer running SINAUT MICRO SC. Is this correct?

I am in the process of preparation of specifications. Appreciate any one of you with first hand experience can comment on this.

Thank you.

VSD/VFD Pump Controller PLC

Dear Expert,

I have a question for certain condition as describe (commissioning step):

- a pump intent to serve multi-product of hydrocarbon. Let says product A and B. When the pump serve the Product A, the demand and certain capacity of the operation is satisfy. The pump using VSD to make power consumption effective and to make the rpm decreasing smoothly until the capacity of product reached.
- When the pump served the Product B ( different SG with product A ) the capacity demand of the operation is not satisfied (larger than demand requirement). We have done any trial and error to solve the problem, and we got one. We stop the pump suddenly by "mother" controller PLC. BUT it is not satisfied enough to do, because we need the smooth decreasing rpm of motor&pump to meet the certain capacity (consider life time of pump and power consumption efficiency).

Is there any suggestion or advice to solve my problem ? Maybe some of you ever met same problem that I am facing right now

TECO SG2-20HR-A

I've been tasked to try and upgrade the firmware for this PLC and I've tried all the conventional methods given from the site with no luck. If anyone can assist with maybe some tips or a suggestion that would be great. Thank you!

PLC Panel Heat Load Analysis

I have designed a simple control panel that has an internal heat load of 199 Watts.
Its a 72x36x24 Hoffman Enclosure. This control panel is in a temperature controlled
building. None the less the specification is requiring me to do a heat load calculation
with an environment temp of 50°C. All parts in my panel I have verified at rated for
50°C.

The client states that the Outside and Inside Temp shall be 50°C for my calculation.
I tried to explain that a temp of 50°C outside an enclosure will never give the same temp at worst case
condition by using just a Fan. Just like a car. If a car outside temp is 50°C then inside temp will be at least 10° hotter, in
my case 55°C (132°F). By doing this I have now went over the parts rating. Any Suggestions how to describe/pass
my heat load calculations?

The only way to keep the panel at the same temperature at this worst case temp is to have a AC, which I don't need.
I'm I missing something? Any support will be greatly appreciated.

I'm using the Hoffman Cooling Analysis program for my Heat Load Calculation.

hello guys, I am a CMM programmer.

hello guys,
I am a CMM programmer.
Recently we have installed a automated Inspection fixture on CMM which operates by Siemens PLC.
That PLC is controlling some proximity sensors to control the movement of the sensor.
The CMM , I am working is Zeiss Make and the interface software is calypso.

Now my task is ...

I want to click on a specific area on the software(say on a "button") when a specific proximity sensor will ON.

Means I want to interface the PLC with the Operating System of my computer.

Is that Possible???

If yes .. then Please suggest me the way.....

waiting for your valuable suggestions....

Has anybody HI-POT a PLC Control Panel?

One of my clients want me to Hi-POT my PLC Control Panel per their specification.
I have never been requested this before on a PLC Panel. I'm pretty sure a Hi-POT
will damage Electronic Equipment in the panel.

Has Anyone done this before? Do you have to unterminate every wire end to end
to do a Hi-Pot test?
