I recently accquirred a robot made by LJ Elecronics in the 1980's. This was a 'carboot' find from a ham radio electronics fair. Although in a sorry state I plan to get it going again.
I have done a bit of interweb searching and now have the user and technical manuals.
After lots of messing around with infrared tx/rx alignment and a bit of logic probe fault finding I now have the robot at 'Total Coincidence' - Datum position .
I'd like to get the ATLAS II eproms as that firmware offered acceleration and deceleration.
Does anyone have any other info for this robot, spares, software, bits and bobs gathering dust?
Also if anyone has any info on programming from the BEEB i'd be really grateful.
Yeah share its images that will help to get the real idea.
As the reprogramming is concerned, I think you should give Arduino a try. You can interface stepper motors with it quite easily. Rf modules like XBee etc can also be interfaced with it. So that would be the best option.
Thanks.
If I cannot find documentation on the serial and paralell interfaces I will probably build some more modern logic to it, just using the stepper motor drivers and sensors.
The motherboard is however 6502-based, so I might reprogram the whole thing to accept something compatible with Linux CNC or similar.
On the other hand an Arduino Board has quite a lot more punch in it and also C-programming is pretty much faster than 6502 assembly. Even if I AM a nostalgic person the amount of available time IS limited

It seems interesting, would you like to share its images. I will try to help you out, if I could.
Thanks.
There seems to be a few left.
I have not found the manuals you found, could you please post the urls here, or maybe send them?
It would be much appreciated.
Any success in getting the old beast running?
